The Work

Every engagement is different. The three areas below are where we typically start. Most relationships evolve well beyond that.

one-on-one coaching

When the stakes change the nature of the work.

At a certain level the decisions get heavier, the visibility increases, and the drive that got you here starts working against you. The noise picks up. The clarity gets harder to find.

Most leaders at this stage don’t need more advice. They need a thinking partner who has actually been in the seat.

That’s what this is. A confidential space to think clearly, work through what’s creating drag, and figure out what the moment is actually asking of you.

I’ve scaled a complex, people-driven business to 1,200 people and a successful exit. I bring that experience, not a framework.

The result: Leadership that feels clearer, more grounded, and more sustainable as complexity increases.

How we work: Twice-monthly sessions with additional support as needed. Monthly retainer adapted to your rhythm.

change advisory

When the business is moving faster than the team.

At a certain point the informal ways of working that once felt like a strength start creating drag. Decisions slow down. Communication gets harder. Sometimes that’s the result of growth. Sometimes it’s a strategic shift. And increasingly it’s an AI implementation where the technology is ready and what’s lagging is the human side: what the change is doing to people’s sense of competence and identity, and what resistance looks like versus what struggle looks like, because those two things require completely different responses.

The honest conversations that would fix it rarely happen on their own. They need a safe container and someone who isn’t inside the politics.

I go into the organization, surface what’s actually going on, and work with leaders to respond to it directly. Sometimes that means working with the leadership team. Sometimes it means coming in alongside the implementation firm before the human side becomes a problem rather than after.

The result: A team that can tell the truth, make decisions that stick, and move through the change without losing the people who matter most.

How we work: Custom engagements built around assessments, off-sites, intensive sessions, and ongoing advisory. Often in partnership with the organization’s AI implementation firm.

Leadership Transitions

When your relationship to the company is changing.

Stepping up, stepping back, or stepping away entirely — these moments are rarely just tactical. They change how you see yourself and how you relate to what you’ve built. The strategic part is usually the easier part.

What’s harder is the identity shift. Who you are when the role changes. What you’re moving toward, not just what you’re leaving behind. That’s where most people get stuck.

I’ve been through my own exit. I know what it feels like to hand something over that you poured yourself into. That experience is at the center of this work.

We focus on moving through the transition with clarity and intention, making sure the decisions you make now are ones you’ll be proud of later.

The result: A transition that feels grounded and deliberate, honoring what you built while creating room for what’s next.

How we work: Ongoing advisory adapted to your timeline and the complexity of the moment.

Discretion is the baseline. Results are the proof.

“Working with David gave me clarity, confidence, and practical direction at a crucial moment in my founder journey. His insight came from real experience, not theory, and made an immediate difference. He challenged my thinking, encouraged me in a way I hadn’t experienced before, and gave me a simple assignment that materially moved my business forward.

A.P.

Founder & CEO

“Stepping into a senior leadership role at a fast-moving creative company was daunting. David quickly became a trusted sounding board. He listens deeply, gets to the heart of issues, and draws on real-world experience. With his guidance, I’ve built clearer processes, stronger relationships, and a more confident, balanced way of leading.

P.M.

COO/CFO

“David guided me from founder-doer to CEO by helping me build processes, empower my team, and sharpen my focus. At the same time, his calm, values-based approach helped me stay confident in my instincts during fundraising and growth. Having someone who’s been through operations and capital raising himself, and validated my gut from real experience, is incredibly powerful. The result for me was faster execution with less panic and more conviction.”

J.S.

Managing Partner

“We needed our management team to have a trusted advisor as we entered the next phase of growth with a new partner. David’s balanced approach brought trust, collaboration, and new perspective to the team — and peace of mind to the board.”

D.G.

Founder & CEO

“David took two skeptical groups and helped us come together in a meaningful way. We explored what was working, what wasn’t, and learned how to engage with each other honestly and productively. Beyond solving immediate issues, it helped us clarify the kind of company we want to be and the principles that will guide us forward.”
